The Stress and Health Of Collegiate Athletes

According to the merriam-webster dictionary, stress is defined as a state of mental tension and or anxiety caused by the problems in your personal life. Stress can also be a physical force or the pressure placed upon someone.

We’re more than a bunch of UNLV Kinesiology collage students. We’re a group of like-minded students, using our passion and our skills to promote the importance of stress management.

According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, 80% of U.S. students report feeling stressed sometimes or often, while 34% felt depression.

 Roughly 41% of U.S. college students terminated their mental health services due to the end of the term or semester. 


The Female Athlete Triad

The female athlete triad is characterized by the deficiencies associated with possible eating disorders and the inability to consume the recommended daily amount of calories required to meet the specific nutritional and energy requirements of that exercise or sport. 

  • Possible eating disorders.  
  • Amenorrhea (absence of menstrual cycle 3 months or longer).
  • Bone mineral depletion: Osteopenia or Osteoporosis.
